Псерімос, Острів у Греції
Пserimos is a small island in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Kalymnos. There are no cars here, and the island keeps its natural feel. The beach at Avlakia has white sand and clear water. Walking paths lead to different coves and up to a height of 268 meters.
The island shows traces of ancient settlement from the Hellenistic period. Archaeological finds such as pottery pieces and remains of houses are found along the shores. These remains suggest the area was lived in long before modern tourism came.
The white chapel of Panagia Grafiotissa stands near the beach, built over the ruins of an older Christian church. This holy place shows the religious connection of the island. Visitors come here to explore the spiritual heritage of the area.
The island can be reached by daily ferries from Kalymnos and Kos. It is important to bring enough cash because there are no ATMs. Comfortable shoes are a good idea for the walking paths. Since there are no cars, the island is safe and easy to get around on foot.
The complete absence of motor vehicles creates a rare silence where only natural sounds like waves and birdsong are heard. This strong stillness makes the island feel different from more visited places.
